It's mainly why there's Yoast for WordPress but there's no such plugin for XenForo. Another possible reason is because it's a forum and not a blog. The structure of the categories/forums is also of great importance and more and more. I have memories of XenForo v2.2.8 that it was visited often by search engine bots and not just by one. In my opinion, it's from the code changes that were made after v2.2.17. But let's not forget that nowadays Google wants regular publishing, regular and constant and growing forum traffic...... requirements if you want them.... :D

Yes, even much better than WordPress. Because the forum is much faster and easier to read than search engine bots. But you need content, regular posting and attendance from real people. Reddit, Xenforo.com and many other forums are proof that these are not just words :)

Complete analysis in 7 points.

XenForo and WordPress are fundamentally different platforms, and this can impact how well sites built on each rank in search engines and compete in different niches.

Here are several reasons why XenForo websites might not rank as well as WordPress sites:

1.Platform Purpose and Functionality

XenForo:

Primarily a forum software designed for community building and discussions. It excels in user engagement and managing community interactions.

WordPress:

A versatile content management system (CMS) that can be used for a wide range of purposes, from blogs to complex websites. Its flexibility allows for better customizations geared towards SEO.

2.SEO Features and Plugins

SEO Tools:

WordPress has a vast array of SEO plugins (like Yoast SEO, Rank Math, etc.) that simplify optimization tasks. These tools help users implement best practices, manage meta tags, create sitemaps, and optimize for keywords.

Limited Options for XenForo:

While XenForo does have SEO features, it lacks the depth and variety of dedicated SEO plugins available in WordPress, which can hinder its optimization capabilities.

3.Content Structure

Static vs. Dynamic Content:

WordPress facilitates the creation of high-quality, static content (like blog posts, pages, landing pages) which is crucial for SEO. XenForo, although it can create dynamic content through forums, often lacks the structured, keyword-rich content that search engines prioritize.

Content Longevity:

Static content on WordPress sites often remains relevant longer, whereas forum threads can quickly become outdated.

4.User Experience and Design

Themes and Customization:

WordPress offers a wide array of themes tailored for SEO and mobile responsiveness. A good design improves user engagement, reduces bounce rates, and enhances SEO.

XenForo’s Limitations:

While XenForo allows customization, it may not offer the same level of theme diversity specifically optimized for SEO as WordPress does.

5.Site Speed and Performance

Optimization Options:

WordPress offers numerous caching and optimization plugins that can enhance site speed—an important factor for SEO.

XenForo Performance:

While XenForo can be optimized, fewer readily available plugins and optimizations can make it harder for some users to achieve optimal performance.

6.Content Freshness and Updates

Regular Content Updates:

WordPress often encourages frequent content updates due to its blogging capabilities, which can boost search engine rankings.

Forum Content:

XenForo relies heavily on user-generated content that may not be updated as regularly as blog content, potentially impacting rankings over time.

7. Market Perception and Popularity

Brand and Community Size:

WordPress is one of the most widely used CMS platforms, which translates into more resources, community support, and tutorials available for optimization.

Niche Focus:

XenForo is often used for niche communities, which may limit the overall audience and competitiveness compared to the diverse applications of WordPress.

Conclusion

While XenForo has its strengths in managing community interactions effectively, WordPress offers more robust tools and features for content creation and SEO. Ultimately, the performance of any website in search engine rankings will also depend heavily on the quality of content, the effectiveness of SEO practices employed, and overall site management. Users looking to improve their XenForo site's SEO should focus on producing high-quality, relevant content and exploring available add-ons that enhance performance and optimization.

The thing you need it's a large user base on your forum, very active, minimum active users of 100, posting on a steady very valuable content

WordPress is not better than Xenforo, it just serve different purpose

Xenforo is like a social network, a community which needs people to make it active, just imagine a community/town where there is nobody, you probably don't have to enter or even have anything to do with that kind town.

While WordPress, is just a standalone cms, which doesn't needs users to be functional, just the owner of the platform is enough.

Now your goal should be to create an interesting community where people will come and it should be engaging, currently on my platform am facing same issue even worst as my website threads are been removed from Google, but my focus is to create my own userbase without depending on Google.

Don't let Google discourage you, share your forum, promote your forum, build your userbase and watch Google fights to put you back on search

It is normal for WordPress to have more SEO and speed improvements, after all, it is developed by hundreds of thousands of people, and even more make all sorts of plugins and designs for WordPress. But XenForo remains the best solution if someone wants something more than a simple, boring blog. I have ten years of experience with WordPress, I have tested it with everything, but after I met XenForo, WordPress remained a thing of the past :D

Unfortunately yes, I personally went back to WordPress, at least it has Yoast and I will be able to rank my content in good positions. Again, unfortunately, Xenforo can only be used as a secondary system, as for a forum, but WordPress needs to be the main system and the articles should be in it.

@batalibg

Exactly what I do on all my sites one main pages with WP and xenforo in secondary for the community, SEO is much better as well
